Green Day celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Grammy award-winning album Dookie with extended release

Green Day celebrates 30 years of the album Dookie with a re-release extended edition with several surprises. Reprise will release the limited edition six LP vinyl and four CD pack in September 2023.

Green Day was formed in 1987 in the East Bay of California by lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist and backing vocalist Mike Dirnt. In 1990, they would be joined by drummer Tré Cool, who replaced John Kiffmeyer.

The band released its first two albums with independent labels. In 1994, its third album, Dookie, was the first with a major label, Reprise Records. Dookie would receive critical and popular acclaim, winning the band a Grammy for Best Alternative Album in 1995. This album would reach a wider audience and its success would rank it as one of the defining albums of the 1990s and punk rock.

Dookie would top the US charts at No. 2 and see worldwide acclaim reaching the top five in many other countries. The album released five singles "Longview", "Basket Case," a re-recorded version of Welcome to Paradise" (originally the Kerplunk album), "When I Come Around", and "She".

On September 29, Dookie: 30th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition will be released, featuring outtakes, demos, and songs from two live concerts. The commentary features producer Rob Cavallo and liner notes from Grammy-winning journalist Bob Mehr. The collection will also contain some fun Green Day memorabilia.

- seventeen unreleased demos
- six studio outtakes (3 unreleased)
- Woodstock 1994
- Live in Barcelona 1994 (unreleased)

The six-LP vinyl set will include Dookie dog poop bags, a five-button set, an air freshener, a postcard, a bumper sticker, a kiss-cut large magnet sheet, paper airplane, a black-and-white “Coloring Page” cover litho insert, and a poster of the alternate cover art. The four-CD set will feature two stickers, a five-button set, an air freshener, and a single soft vinyl magnet.
