The Netflix original series Beef is a story of a road rage incident that affects the lives of the two involved in ways they could never have imagined. The story, surprisingly, goes in an unexpected direction, leaving viewers satisfied with the outcome. One thing that has added to the dynamic of the series is the fantastic soundtrack.

The black comedy Beef is an A24 production created by Korean director Lee Sung Jin for Netflix based on his experience with road rage. Sung Jin, known for Silicon Valley, and Dave wrote the ten-episode first season but has revealed he has content for two more seasons if Netflix decides to review the series.

The series stars The Walking Dead actor Steven Yeun and Always Be My Maybe actress Ali Wong as the main characters, who were once strangers that quickly become enemies. Yeun plays Danny, a failing contractor to Wong’s Amy, a self-made woman living what appears to be an idyllic life. Additional cast includes Joseph Lee, Young Mazino, David Choe, Patti Yasutake, Maria Bello, Ashley Park, Remy Holt, Justin H. Min, and Alyssa Gihee Kim. There is also a cameo by Ione Skye.

Netflix series Beef soundtrack gives an added edge to the rage-fueled storyline

The soundtrack for this series is set in the past, which mirrors the characters' mindset. Danny and Amy long for the days from the past when their lives differed. Using tunes from the 90s and early 2000s lends a feeling of nostalgia to the story's tone. While watching Beef, viewers can’t help but remember back to a time when they listened to the angsty rock and teen pop songs featured in the series.
