Rock and Roll Hall of Fame hosts Revolutionary Women in Music exhibit in March

Revolutionary Women in Music: Left of Center opens on March 8, 2024 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. The exhibit will focus on musicians from the 1970s to the present who have used their skills as songwriters, musicians, and performers to go against societal norms.

The title of the exhibit was inspired by the song by Suzanne Vega, "Left of Center," which was initially released as part of the Pretty in Pink movie soundtrack from 1986 featuring Joe Jackson on piano.

The exhibit utilizes a wide range of artifacts, images, and videos to showcase the true rebellious spirit of musicians who have challenged traditional gender roles. These are the same people who have empowered women to accept their authentic selves and created inclusive, supportive communities for women.

Rock Hall Nights is back in 2024

On March 7, Rock Hall Nights will kick off the exhibit with special guests inductee Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go's (2021), Shirley Manson of Garbage, Malina Moye, and Lisa Loeb will kick off the Revolutionary Women in Music: Left of Center exhibit. Tickets are available here. Free for Members and City of Cleveland Residents. The ticket includes touring the exhibits from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with special activities from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.

Event Details:

• Kick Off @ 6:30 p.m.: Indoor PNC Stage, Level 1
  Special guests Inductee Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go's (2021), Shirley Manson of Garbage, and Lisa Loeb will join Shelby Morrison, our VP of Curatorial Affairs, to discuss the exhibit and women's impact and role in music. Lisa Loeb will also perform a few songs live!

  Revolutionary Women in Music: Left of Center will examine the work of courageous, groundbreaking, rebellious musicians from the 1970s to today who use songwriting, music, and performance to subvert societal norms.

  Amazing, once-in-a-lifetime performances from our Induction stage featuring some of the most iconic women who have been Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

• Film Screening: The Punk Singer (2013): Level 4, Foster Theater
  A look at the life of activist, musician, and cultural icon Kathleen Hanna, who formed the punk band Bikini Kill and pioneered the "riot grrrl" movement of the 1990s. (81 Minutes)
