Ozzy Osbourne is a singer, songwriter, television personality, and hero! During his career, Osbourne has made headlines for his crazy antics, including biting the head off a bat during a concert. But once, he made headlines for wrestling a coyote to save something dear to him and his family.
In 2003, news circulated that Osbourne wrestled a vicious predator in the garden of the family's Beverly Hills mansion. Touted a hero by his wife Sharon, Osbourne did this to save her beloved dog, Pipi, a Pomeranian. After hearing a commotion in the garden, Osbourne rushed to aid the canine and fought the coyote until it released poor Pipi. This was a traumatic event for the Osbournes as they previously lost Lulu, the family's black chihuahua, to an attack by coyotes.
Luckily, Pipi made a full recovery after surgery.
"Ozzy heard the screams and fought and got Pip out of the coyote's mouth."Sharon Osbourne
Sharon also shared that these coyotes have been a nuisance so much so that they have thrown poisoned chicken over their fence, hoping to kill off some of the predators.
The Osbourne's pets have been featured in their reality show The Osbournes which aired on MTV from 2002-2005. During the series, they had several dogs and a cat, which Osbourne was often seen tripping over the pets and swearing at them.
Osbourne's music career began in 1968 when he was one of the founding members of the heavy metal band Black Sabbath. He would be fired from the band in 1979 for drug and alcohol abuse issues. He would then embark on a solo career that proved very successful.
In 2022 Ozzy Osbourne released his thirteenth solo album, Patient Number 9, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. The album would also win a Grammy for Best Rock Album that year.
Patient Number 9 would see a long line of superstars join Osbourne. Jeff Beck, Zakk Wylde, Tony Iommi, Mike McCready, and Eric Clapton would lend their guitar talents to the album. While Robert Trujillo and Duff McKagen played bass, Chad Smith and the late Taylor Hawkins joined in on drums.
On July 10, 2023, Osbourne announced that he would have to bow out of his scheduled appearance at Power Trip in October. He released the statement below. Read the complete statement on his website.
"As painful as this is, I've had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October. My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer t do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.Ozzy Osbourne
Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I'm just not ready yet, and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed. "
