Movie soundtracks can make or break a film. Many modern films include music from the 1980s or music with a vibe that mimics the era. Children of the 1980s can easily relate to this, as it stirs up nostalgic feelings from their childhood and teen years. Sing Street (2016)

Set in Dublin, the film follows a young student who meets a girl, becomes infatuated with her, and creates a band to impress her. This 2016 movie is set in the 80s, so it's no surprise that it features many iconic 80s tunes, but don't dismiss the outstanding original singles included in the movie.

The movie includes Duran Duran's "Rio," including a clip of the music video shown on TV, "Town Called Malice" by The Jam, "In Between Days" from The Cure, the underrated Joe Jackson song "Steppin' Out" and more. Everybody Wants Some!! (2016)

Another 2016 film, Everybody Wants Some!! is another great movie with an excellent 80s vibe and soundtrack. The film, set in Texas, follows a group of partying college baseball players as they experience the freedom that comes with unsupervised adulthood and the responsibilities that come with it. The film is considered a box office bomb but critics praised the movie for its nostalgia and soundtrack.

The Final Girls is a comedy slasher film which finds a group of students transported into a slasher film called Camp Bloodbath from 1986The story follows a young girl whose mother recently died and happens to be a former scream queen from the era. She and her friends are trapped inside the movie where they must fight off the killer in order to escape. The movie pays homage to many horror/slasher films of the 1980s

The film's score pleasantly gives 80s vibes while also feeling new and modern. Singles from the 80s included in the movie include "Dance Hall Days" by Wang Chung, "Bette Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes, "Mickey" by Toni Basil, "Cherry Pie" by Warrant, and "Cruel Summer" by Bananarama.

American Psycho

The Christian Bale led satirical horror American Psycho is based on Bret Easton Ellis' same-titled novel. The movie satirizes 80s yuppie culture and consumerism in a black comedy featuring Bale's Patrick Bateman as an investment banker who moonlights as a serial killer. The soundtrack rocks and includes many amazing 80s tunes.

The movie includes a shout-out to Huey Lewis and News when Bateman plays the band's 1987 hit song, "Hip To Be Square." While "taking care of," one of his victims continues to talk about the song's attributes.
