The heavenly band is living it up today as American singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett has joined their ranks. The "Margaritaville" singer was well-known for his "island escapism" song style. A statement on his social media pages states that Buffett was surrounded by family, friends, music, and his dog as he peacefully passed away on September 1.

Buffett's devoted fans, affectionately known as Parrotheads, are mourning the loss of the man who inspired them to live their best lives. While he was best known for his music, Buffett is a multi-hyphenate man who was also a best-selling author and restaurant entrepreneur.

In the late 1960s, Buffett began his musical career as a country musician, recording his first album in 1970. He would often be seen busking for tourists in New Orleans. During this time, he would begin frequenting the island of Saint Barts and others, drawing inspiration for his music.

During the 80s he established himself as a concert draw, earning more money from his performances than his album sales. Throughout his career, he recorded over 50 albums which included several live albums and movie soundtracks. He was set to release a new album later this year, Equal Strain on All Parts.

He was involved in the establishment of two restaurant chains named after two of his best-known songs, Margaritaville Cafe and Cheeseburger in Paradise, which closed its last location in 2020.
